We all want to feel like we fit in, like our lives are perfect and we are the most completely normal person on this planet. But truth be told, you aren't. And, neither am I.
I'm here to tell you that, that's okay too.
Everyone wants to feel normal, like you fit in to a certain group, like things are totally serene. And hey, who doesn't? Even I find myself wishing to be normal, lying to myself day in and day out that 'It's okay, Vitale. You are normal.' When I really think about it, I'm actually not.
You see, I've tried to change. To make myself fit everyone's version of what we would like to consider 'normal'. But, the more I tried to be normal, the more I realized I was loosing myself. I was turning into just the person I hated. The person who got so caught up in the rules and regularities of every day life, I lost sight of what I was. I lost sight of the funny, outgoing, coffee addicted, hyper kid that I began to love.
And yes, I did love it. I loved myself for what I was truly, un-normal. I hated the person I was trying to be. The person I tried to change into to fit societies, 'norm.'
Well, I'll tell you one thing. It was short lived, and it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Because see, even though I thought I fit one persons norm, it wasn't what was normal to someone else.
Everyone has their own sense of normal, and when you try to change who you are to fit that normal, you loose sight of who you are as a person. You never have a chance to show the world who you are, and just how amazing you can be.
So, let loose. Don't try to fit everyone's normal when who knows, maybe your own normal, could very well be someone else's normal too. Stop trying to change, or before you know it, you're going to loose sight of who you are.
So take it from someone who isn't normal.
