That Smile We All Fake

You know that smile?
That smile we ALL fake?
Yeah, you know what smile I'm talking about.

That smile some of you probably have on right now.
The one that says:

But you know, as well as I do, that it's all lies.
We all fake smiles, and for what reasons?

Am I a bad person?

If you're surrounded by people giving you a smile, and someone asks you, "How are you?" You respond with the usual, "I'm good and you?" Because, inside you feel kind of like a bad person if you respond with some answer and a facial expression that doesn't say anything but "Good." You'd rather lie and say that than talk about private issues and ruin an acquaintances or strangers day. So you lie, and say "I'm good."

Faking a smile

is easier than describing how you really feel.

Face it, faking a smile is easier than describing how you really feel. When you're upset, think about it. How many feelings are you really going through? Chances are, quite a lot. With all those emotions going through you, odds are you probably don't know how to express in words how you're really truly doing. It helps make things easier, on both parts. And it's a time saver.

So, you say to yourself a fake smile is all it takes. And, most of the time it's true.
Most of the time a fake smile is all it takes, but beneath that smile, is a person who is hurting deeply, and while you may think that smile is helping. It probably isn't.

When you hide your hurt or sorrow or pain in that smile, you're hurting yourself more than doing any good. So it may help a bit in the beginning, but you're repressing those feelings. Repressing all those feelings just makes them build up. It's like a glass of water.

Your body is the glass. Your sadness is the water on the inside.

What happens if that water keeps going? If it doesn't stop? If you don't take that time to let any of it go?

The water fills up, past the brim of the glass, and you snap.

Everyone needs to let that fake smile go sometimes, and let out how you're really feeling. Or otherwise, you're going to have a mess.

And don't take it wrong either, everyone fakes a smile.
Even Dean Winchester himself.

See, there he goes again faking that smile. It's clear to see though.

Everyone has that smile, but sometimes, you ave to let that smile go, and be sad. People will help, and you won't be so sad anymore. That smile, that was once fake, will turn to a genuine smile which will make your day much brighter.

So, take it off.
Eat ice cream.
Indulge on a movie.
'The Devil Wears Prada',
Or 'The Little Black Book'.

Allow yourself to heal, and let it all out.
That fake smile won't be fake one day.
And you'll find things are much easier.
